Uncut Video Going Down The Tubes

I just got my FIRST email from AOL, even though they claim they have been notifying me, that the AOL video will cease to exist on December 18th. They have a site to transfer them to, Motionbox, BUT...I did a test and even though you are transferring them over to Motionbox and saving them, once you delete the video from AOL video (which is what will happen anyway on December 18th) it won't show on your entry anymore. You will still have to reload it onto that entry. :( I have almost a hundred videos on my journal from before we got here from AOL. My dependence on AOL is coming back again and again to bite me in the rear.

I am still thinking that the end is near for AOL in general. They really can't compete with the phone and cable companies that supply both the "software" access and the physical supply lines. AOl has no physical distribution and depends on the cable and phone companies lines for it's customers to access them. I don't even rely on AOL for email anymore. I still have the accounts (free) but after they shut down Journals and their photo service I think I saw some writing on that wall and have moved my mail to my phone company service.

I hope you get all your videos transfered over so you can rebuild...again.

Good Luck

I've checked with Qwest (my phone) company and who I get my DSL service from~they no nothing about AOL going away. But it sure seems funny that all these features are going by the wayside. Transferring videos was quite simple, I did it several weeks ago. Of course if I am ever able to find them again~remains to be seen. LOL!! Linda in stormy Washington

Love your Christmasy background. I have had several emails from AOL. I moved mine over already but I also have my videos and pics on disks and an external hard drive.

I'm waiting for the day that AOl announces they are done. Won't be long.

I lost all my AOL pictures in the picture blogs. No matter I had most someplace else and had managed to have everything copied of 'puter when it crashed.
Shame, as big a AOL is they can't always be depended upon.
Here's looking at you when we're both caught up at the same time. (smile)

AOL is starting to get on my nerves. The keep deleting things, yet I got an email yesterday that said try the new AOL. Hell, I don't even like the old one anymore.

Seems you've taken on a rather exclusive patron exclusively accepting only AOL communications. Say-la-vee!

I think AOL is going out of business. They're going down. I had no idea that AOL videos posted in journals were only the link and not the real videos. It sounds like such a huge rip off to me. I hope you guys are getting excited about Christmas. I'll bet your place looks fabulous right about now. We're still decorating. Got the tree up tonight finally. Had to go and visit my mother in Alpharetta today for her BD which is tomorrow. Give me a call sometime when you can. I'd sure love to hear from you as I well understand though it's an awful busy time of the year for everyone.

I'm sure glad I decided against using AOL for that. NOW if Photobucket goes down I'm in BIG BIG trouble. I would be SO sad! Every picture/video I have on here would be just gone
